It’s been a rumour which doesn’t die. Even after Valve came out and said they weren’t actively working on bringing Steam to Linux, it has resurfaced again.
A new job listing has gone live on the Valve site for a Senior Software Engineer which among other things would be responsible for “Port Windows-based games to the Linux platform.”.
Could this point to a future Steam client for Linux? it’s certainly looking more likely.
If you live in either the US, UK, Japan or Mexico you’ll be able to “if you see it, just sat it” when Kinect launches later in the year. If you don’t happen to live in one of those four countries you will probably will have to wait until sometime in 2011 to be able to tell your Xbox what to do.
Microsoft PR manager Lidia Pitzalis said in an interview with Eurogamer Spain. Mentioning that Germany, Itality, France and Spain would have to wait until a Spring 2011 update for them to be included.
It’s quite a feat for Microsoft to be able to support the plethora of different accents from the various countries, and both the US and UK will have different software versions to support those accents. If you happen to speak perfect English but don’t live in one of the supported launch countries you’ll sadly still be out of luck as it will be disabled until official support is added.

I don’t think there was ever a doubt that Starcraft II:Wings of Liberty was ever going to sell poorly. Today Blizzard has announced that the title has sold over 3 million copies worldwide in just one month. Who said PC gaming was dead?
“We appreciate all the enthusiasm that players around the world have shown for StarCraft II,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. “It was important to us to deliver an overall gameplay experience that was accessible, balanced, and fun, and it’s been gratifying to see how strongly the global community has already embraced the game.”
Day-one sales for the game reached 1 million copies and then went on to sell another 1.5 million unites in the first 48 hours. This has put Starcraft II has the bestselling PC game of 2010.
Microsoft has today shown of the new controller they’ll be shipping in a few months time in the US and sometime around February in Europe. As well as a new colour scheme it now offers an improved D-pad.
They’ve even come up with a little catch phrase: “from a plus to a disc with the twist of the wrist.”. I’m a little baffled as to why Microsoft has decided to remove the colours from the buttons as they helped new gamers to glance at what button they needed when a game prompted them.
The controller is only available as part of a Play & Charge kit for $64.99. Keep reading for a video of MajorNelson showing off the new kit.
Dead Rising: Case Zero has been delayed, until when we don’t know. The Xbox Marketplace exclusive was supposed to be released tomorrow on the 31st August but has now been delayed. The reason behind the delay is said to be content which is inappropriate for the free trial.
Case Zero is set three years before Dead Rising 2 and offers an introduction to protagonist, Chuck Greene. Capcom told Famitsu that this delayed doesn’t impact the release of Dead Rising 2.
Also note this news is from Capcom Japan so it may be just delayed in Japan.
Not long ago AMD snapped up ATI and has turned things around with the recent 5000 series of GPUs. Today word has slipped that AMD intend to drop the ATI brand and combine everything under the AMD name.
