It’s been a rumour which doesn’t die. Even after Valve came out and said they weren’t actively working on bringing Steam to Linux, it has resurfaced again.
A new job listing has gone live on the Valve site for a Senior Software Engineer which among other things would be responsible for “Port Windows-based games to the Linux platform.”.
Could this point to a future Steam client for Linux? it’s certainly looking more likely.

After showing you the new voice of Wheatley we’ve got a little teaser trailer of co-op in Portal 2.

Something which has turned out to be a bit of a hot topic for Valve is the voice if Wheatley. Originally voiced by a Valve animator but now has received a new voice by the way of Steven Merchant from shows like The Office and Extras.
There are a few petitions already popping up in hopes of bringing back the original voice of Wheatley which was shown at E3. Personally I don’t really mind. Check out the video above with the voice supplied by Steven Merchant and see what you think.

Valve and PopCap have today announced a Game of the Year Edition for the huge hit, Plants vs. Zombies and it’s now available via Steam.
in the GOTY Edition you’ll see added support for Steam Cloud, allowing you to store and access game data from any computer and GOTY Ed. sees the introduction of Zombatar, allowing you to add your own twisted zombie creations right into the game. If you already own Planets vs. Zombies on the PC, you’ll get these features for free.
If you’re gaming on a Mac, Plants vs. Zombies is now available via Steam with support for Steam Cloud and Steam Achievements.
“Delivering Plants vs. Zombies via Steam helped us reach a tremendous audience for the game,” said Ron Powers, VP of Product Management at PopCap. “Adding Steam Cloud functionality to the game allows us to increase the value of the title to existing and new customers. In addition, with the title support Steam Play for cross platform play, it seemed the timing was perfect for adding Steam Cloud support.”

We're here for the DLC.
DLC entitled, Ranger Pack will be heading to both the Xbox Live Marketplace and Steam on Tuesday August 3rd.
The Ranger Pack, packs a punch and comes along with new weapons, achievements and also the ‘Ranger Mode’ game rules. This mode sees the ammo dramatically reduced and all weapons inflict more damage onto your enemies. Your foes are deadlier than ever – but so are you.
If that’s not enough for you the ‘Ranger Hardcore’ mode adds an additional challenge by completely removing the HUD, adding to the immerse experience.
The two new weapons are – the Heavy Automatic Shotgun, and the Volt Driver. If that isn’t enough for you to pick up the new DLC, there is new achievements and gamerscore up for grabs.
All this for just 240MSP on XBLM and for free on Steam when it’s delivered via an auto-update through Steam.

Steamworks now included in Mafia 2.
Today 2K and Valve have announced that Steamworks will be making it way into the PC version of Mafia II. Steamworks brings a bunch of new features to the game like allowing auto-updates, statistics, downloadable content and the ever popular Steam Achievements.
“Using Steamworks to power Mafia II has been a great benefit for 2K Games and our development team,” said Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K. “It’s meant that we can spend more time creating content and a great experience for our customers because we know that Steam and Steamworks are enabling these important features within the game.”
“Our focus for Steam is on building services that create value for our customers and for creators, and Mafia II, with its all-new game engine and inclusion of Steamworks, is a great example of that.” said Gabe Newell, President of Valve
That’s not all. If you pre-order the standard or the Digital Deluxe Edition of Mafia II from select digital retails, like Steam you will be given a free digital copy Mafia, that you can play straight away.
